Sinus Conditions

Diseases and disorders of the nose and sinuses affect millions of individuals yearly, causing pain, fatigue, breathing difficulties, sleep discomfort, and overall poor quality of living. However, ENT doctors and otolaryngologists can treat sinus issues like seasonal allergies, septal deviation, and chronic sinus infections, and options for treatment like nasal sprays, antibiotics, immunotherapy, and surgical procedures thankfully exist for the patient to consider.

Types of Sinus Disorders

Otolaryngologists specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of nasal cavity and sinus conditions. Nasal and sinus disorders we evaluate include:

  • Allergies
  • Deviated nasal septum
  • Nasal polyps
  • Rhinitis
  • Sinusitis
  • Smell and taste disorders
  • Tumors of the nose and sinus cavities
  • Diagnosis

For us to understand what the patient is going through, we need to find the cause, so our physicians will obtain a detailed history of your nasal problems. A diagnostic endoscopy may also be conducted during the clinical examination. The endoscopy occurs under local anesthesia and involves inserting a very small camera into the nasal cavities.

Treatment Options

There is a wide array of treatment options for all of the above listed sinus and nose disorders, such as prescription medications, allergy testing and immunotherapy, and surgery.

If the cause of the sinus condition stems from a structural issue, surgical interventions such as these could be necessary:

  • Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS)
  • Septoplasty
  • Balloon sinuplasty (in-office)
